WOMEN’S INTEREST GROUPS OF ST. JOHN'S

Each of these groups is named after a prominent woman of the Bible.

ANNA CIRCLE - meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month. The Anna Circle members are also involved with FISH: (Friends Into Serving Him) – for girls in middle and high school and their moms. For more information about FISH, contact Tara Kinsley at 668-0118 or Janice Stone at 665-1523

Dorcas circle – The Dorcas Circle meets the 1st Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. except the months when the Quarterly meeting of the LWML is held. Dorcas is the sewing circle with sewing projects being baptismal napkins, acolyte robes, sewing quilts for Lutheran World Relief, making banners and future projects for the church.

Lydia circle – The Lydia Circle meets the second Thursday afternoon of the month at 2 p.m. except August or when the LWML Quarterly meets. Pat Ensenbach lines up Communion Care.

RACHEL CIRCLEThe Rachel Circle enjoys serving our Lord in many outreaching activities at  St. John’s and the Yankton Community. Each child baptized at St. John’s receives a Baptismal candle, a baptismal cloth and a small lamb which is engraved with the child’s name, birth date and baptismal date. This lamb is then added to the Nrusery Roll and is given to the child when he/she begins Sunday school. We send each baptized child a birthday car beginning at age 1 to age 3 and then invite them to come to Sunday school and preschool.

We also send “Thinking of You” cards to colleges students in our congregation throughout the year. We make counted cross stitch Bible bookmarks for the confirmands which are presented to them on their Confirmation day, and we host a brunch for the high school graduates o their special graduation Sunday.

We serve at the Yankton Community Banquet every year in March. This is a free dinner served to anyone in the community. We also enjoy Christmas caroling at the Human Service Center at Christmas time as part of our Christmas party  each year.

If you enjoy studying God’s word, singing, laughing, sharing ideas, and serving with a joyful group of women, Rachel Circle is a great place to be! We welcome you! Please come and join us the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

RUTH CIRCLEThe Ruth Circle continues to be a stewardship circle. We meet the 3rd Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. at the church. Ruth Circle sent all get well, sympathy, and birth congratulation greeting cards from the LWML to St. John’s members during the year. They help furnish food and with the serving at the Human Service Center picnic and devotions. In December, LWML fruit baskets were made up and distributed to shut-ins by the Ruth Circle. We also help clean the kitchen and visit the shut-ins at an assigned time. We invite all to visit and join us at our meetings for devotions and a light lunch.
